Saturday Primetime Kickoff for Bowl
The 2024 Valero Alamo Bowl will be played on Saturday, December 28 at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Alamodome and televised on ABC.
It will be the first Saturday game since January 2, 2016. On that date, a sell-out crowd witnessed #11 TCU achieve a historic comeback to defeat #15 Oregon 47-41 in triple overtime.
This year’s game will be televised on ABC as the first 31 games were on ESPN.
Tickets are now on sale on the Bowl website.
“A Saturday night primetime kickoff on ABC is the perfect spot to showcase the two outstanding universities playing along with everything that makes a bowl trip to San Antonio special,” said Clyde Rucker, Valero Alamo Bowl 2024 Chair. “Whether you experience the game in person or are watching the broadcast, the Valero Alamo Bowl is looking forward to again delivering another batch of memorable moments.”
The Valero Alamo Bowl was created in 1993 to bring enjoyment to San Antonians, South Texans, and visitors alike while creating positive economic impact, experiences, and national attention for our community and participating universities.
The organization has produced 31 bowl games and served as the local host for 11 neutral site games. The 31 Valero Alamo Bowl games have combined to deliver over $1.1 billion in total economic impact to San Antonio, 165 million viewers on ESPN, 1.8 million attendees to the Alamodome, and $163+ million to higher education through team payouts ($152.5+ million) and local scholarships ($10.7+ million).
In the 2023 Valero Alamo Bowl, #14 Arizona beat #12 Oklahoma 38-24 in front of 55,853 fans at the Alamodome and 3.9 million viewers on ESPN on December 28. The event generated a total economic impact of $55.9 million, the largest impact since 2010 and fourth highest total in history.
Proceeds from the event help fund the largest local scholarship program among all bowl games as the Valero Alamo Bowl and its partners collectively awarded over $1.2 million split between 165 students representing every participating San Antonio area high school and four-year university last season.
The first of 15 events on the calendar is the PNC Pigskin Preview on Wednesday, August 28 at the Alamodome.
